About the Misfits
Hi Friends,
I’d much rather talk about animals than myself, but I thought you might appreciate some background on how this coven of lovable misfits came together to live in our serene Appalachian mountain retreat in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
As a long-time animal activist, environmentalist, community organizer, and vet assistant with a degree in Biology, I felt a calling to combine my experience and passion in a way that could meaningfully offer at-risk animals the sanctuary and peace they deserve.
So in the fall of 2020, Misfits Coven became an animal microsanctuary after our first rooster resident, Bodhi, was rescued from auction.
We continued to grow organically offering shelter to more animals each year. In 2024 we became a federally-recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization. While still a relatively small-scale operation, we’re always expanding our rescue efforts and community outreach.
Our mission is to either give a permanent home to or help find homes for as many animals in need as we can.
We humbly offer this tangible service while also striving to educate the public about the dangers that farm animals, wild animals, and domestic animals face in our modern world.
Thank you for your support of our rescue work and our residents.
Blessed be,
Britt
