Our Compassionate and Incredible Board of Directors and Team

Jason Myers

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Contact: jason@misfitscoven.org

Jason grew up on a Western Pennsylvania property that adjoined a farm where he befriended the local cows. As he got to know these sentient creatures as unique individuals, he pledged to become a vegetarian. Shortly after that, he became vegan for the animals as he learned more about the cruel realities of modern factory farming.

His compassionate plant-based lifestyle also dovetailed nicely with his now decades-long practice of nature-based spirituality and its "harm none" creed. Jason is also the founder and bassist for Cleopatra Records recording artist, Icarus Witch, whose music has allowed him to tour the world.

When not in the studio, onstage, or volunteering on the farm, this proud cat dad serves as the VP of public relations for The Content Factory, which is a marketing agency that helps purpose-driven entrepreneurs and nonprofits spread their positive messages through the media.

Rich Menhart

FARM MAINTENANCE / ASST CAREGIVER

Rich is the animals’ second favorite human — as he helps feed and care for them when needed, and is always helping build and fix projects around the Coven. An avid outdoorsman and a decorated retired Army Colonel, Rich never hesitates to jump in when the residents need help and when conditions are too harsh. Rich was commissioned to the Army in 1991 from California University of Pennsylvania ROTC and retired in November 2016 after 29 Years of combined enlisted and commissioned officer service. He served as an Infantry platoon leader in the 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC. Colonel Menhart commanded Company A, 25th Forward Support Battalion, 25th ID (L), Fort Lewis, WA, then became an Observer Controller, Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, LA. He then served as an Executive Officer and Support Operations Officer, US Army Special Operations Command, Special Mission Unit (SMU), and later Task Force J4, Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC. As J4, he lead logistics teams in three combat zones and numerous low visibility operations worldwide. In 2008, Colonel Menhart assumed command of 701st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division and led a deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Despite having been severely wounded in an enemy ambush, he remained in command through the end of the tour and was awarded the Purple Heart. Colonel Menhart culminated his career of distinguished service as the Commander, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Bragg, NC. Rich’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Master Parachutist Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Combat Action Badge, and numerous foreign decorations. We are grateful to have Rich’s dedicated and hard-working support of the Misfits.

Natalie Baxter

DIRECTOR

Natalie is from Alexandria, Virginia and currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland with her feline residents, Tito and Juno. She is a Virginia Commonwealth University alumni and has a wide range of experience in project management, strategy, social media, and market research. She has worked for internships that focused on boosting awareness for non-profits in Richmond, Virginia and currently works for Under Armour in the Consumer Insights department.

She has always recognized that we share a world with beautiful creatures and that it is our responsibility as humans to be cognizant of this. Throughout her childhood and adult life, she has constantly been inspired by Brittany (the Founder) to take steps both big and small to help animals and the environment. She supports Misfit Coven's mission to rescue/rehome animals from unfortunate circumstances and spread kindness to four-legged friends.

Natalie is proud to be a part of the Misfits Coven board and hopes to bring a take to the table that combines both culture and strategy for the sake of the animals! <3
