Meet Awen: our newest rescue, a baby Sulcata tortoise

Baby Awen [pronounced “awe-when”] arrived at the coven recently, after being rescued from abandonment.

Our amazing friend and board member, Stephanie, found baby Awen abandoned in a home for sale, and immediately sprung into action trying to find safety for the baby tortoise. Steph contacted me and it was kismet that Awen came into our lives. After the owners agreed to surrender the tortoise, I drove to the empty house shortly after and Steph’s realtor helped me load Awen up into the rav. Awen was left without water, no working heating or lighting, and in a tank full of feces. We are beyond grateful that Steph was in the right place at the right time, and that she took action to get Awen the vital care they need.

Awen is such an adventurous little friend. They love to roam around, explore, meet new people and animals, eat grass and salads, listen to music, and take naps. Awen is so special and sweet.

Awen reminds us to never buy animals, to never abandon animals (please reach out to local shelters or rescues if ever needed), and to always adopt an animal when you’re looking for a new pal!
