Jain Studies Interviews Misfits Coven About the Intersection of Veganism, Neopaganism, and Jainism (Hint: It’s All About Animal Rights)
This interview with Britt was conducted by Leah Kalmanson for the Bhagwan Adinath Animal Humanities Initiative in collaboration with the Oral History Program at University of North Texas as part of their Jain Studies, partnered with Microsanctuary Resource Center.
The conversation focuses on the start up of the microsanctuary, compassionate living, and the spiritual practices that inform Misfits Coven’s work. It discusses ways modern Witchcraft and Jainism overlap when it comes to the principles of doing the least amount of harm possible and living in harmony with nature. In the case of our animal sanctuary, the “Harm None” ethos extends to all creatures great and small and this caught the eye of the Jainists whose mantra of Ahimsa informs a natural way of life for many in the animal rescue community. Our Coven walks the walk on a daily basis and this is why we’ve been blessed to became a four-time grant recipient from Microsanctuary Resource Center.
